WOMEN AND JUSTICE SUMMIT

KADIN VE ADALET ZİRVESİ

KADEM has been at the helm of various events and activities to protect women and families since its foundation. Accordingly, since 2014, it has been organizing the International Women and Justice Summit, a biennial event, during the week which also encompasses 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The objective of the International Women and Justice Summit is to develop global approaches, in addition to national and regional ones, for issues and matters that concern women, family, and society, and to identify and propose solutions. Its mission is to provide an international platform in which universal issues can be thoroughly discussed as a whole, together with issues pertaining to the family, the basic building block of society. This includes the issue of gender-based discrimination, to which women are exposed in various ways in an ever-increasing manner. Its vision is to support democratic reforms and fundamental human rights for the social-cultural, economic and political lives of women, and influence social matters involving civil society, academia, bureaucracy and politics.

The theme of the 2014 Women and Justice Summit was the concept of “Justice”, reflecting Kadem’s approach to women’s advocacy. In 2016, we focused on the theme “Women in Peace Processes”, and that summit featured sessions on numerous topics, including refugee women and the role of women in peace-making. The theme of the 2018 Summit was “Family Empowerment”, with a focus on family, the building block of society. In 2020, the Fourth Women and Justice Summit was organized under the banner of “Staying Human in Digital Age”.
